Abergele Golf Club welcomed back two-time Solheim cup player Becky Brewerton to play in a charity golf match with three of their members on Wednesday 5th July 2023.

The professional golfer, who has had a successful career on the Ladies European Tour, returned to the club where she started her golfing journey to support a charity auction game. Growing up at the club and starting her golfing journey with junior lessons from past professional Iain Runcie, Becky was excited to return to her old stomping ground for a good cause. The charity match for the Abergele School Fund was played with our Captain Lindsay Meakin, Ian Carr, and Ian Lawlor, and many members came out to see Becky play.
Becky was eager to return to Abergele Golf Club for the charity match and to give back to the community that helped shape her golfing career. Members of the club were eager to come out to see her again and watch her play in the match. It was a nostalgic day for both Becky and the members who reminisced about the professional’s early days at the club as she played the 18-hole parkland course.

Megan Harris, Marketing Manager at the club, said: “The charity match was a huge success for everyone involved. It was made even more special by having Becky Brewerton return home from her busy schedule to play on the day.”
“Abergele Golf Club is proud to have played a role in Becky’s journey becoming a professional golfer and we look forward to her returning to her junior home club in the future”.
