Course Update 26th March 2021

The greens are improving daily and it won’t be long before we will be able to lower the height of cut and increase the speed of the greens. The volume of pitch marks on the greens is quite concerning, considering the course has only been opened to members only for 13 days. I can’t stress the importance of taking 30 seconds to repair your pitch mark. They create an uneven playing surface, look unsightly and the stress caused to the grass can encourage disease. Latest course update. This week has been too damp to cut the majority of the golf course, it was decided to allow the grass to be slightly longer than cause a lot of tyre ruts and smearing of mud on the grass. This gave us the opportunity to complete a few task around the course, from picking up twigs on the fairways, edging the path by the first tee and landscaping around the new starter shed. The greens are continually mowed and vibro rolled to smooth and firm the playing surface. Bunkers have been raked, although they will remain GUR

News from your Course Manager!

Welcome to the latest course update, it’s been a while since our golfers stepped foot onto the hallowed turf which brings solstice to our lives. Just prior to the Christmas period the course was becoming challenging due to the soft ground conditions. Our volunteers have completed a sterling job in our absence; it would be remiss not to praise the efforts of Paul Jones, Tomos Jones, Lindsay Fisher, Martin Thomas, Dewi Roberts, Bryn Hughes, Paul Duffy & Nick Gibbs. They have all contributed so much to the course over the last couple of months. With now a full team of
